The first thing to realize is that your display is part of an overall experience, not an interaction of its own. So you need to understand how the display fits into the customer's experience. For example, if something is on sale, of course you put it on display. But do you put it on the front of the shelf, where it calls attention to itself, or do you put it on the back of the shelf, where it's less visible but where it's more likely that the customer will find it simply because there's no other place for them to look?
