Ezviz – Can I Trust This Brand? Why Should I Buy Them?
Ezviz is a digital video surveillance camera brand owned by Hikvision Digital Camera Corporation and headquartered in Shenzhen, China. As compared to Lorex, Ezviz comes with several cameras with different cameras for both commercial and consumer applications.
When buying Ezviz, you do not need to look for the company that says on the box because the company itself supplies the cameras. When purchasing a Ezviz camera, you might get a set of 3 cameras or there can be 6 cameras. Although the packaging is very plain, Ezviz products have unique designs: all Ezviz models look extremely nice and sophisticated, just like the brand. Some of Ezviz models come with 10GB hard disk space, while others come with 32GB. They also offer various versions: single model, double model and 4-box version. Since Ezviz has such a broad list of models, you could still consider it as a popular camera among young people. Even though Ezviz offers multiple cameras and lots of varieties, they have not established a really competitive position yet, unlike Lorex that operates almost everywhere except China and Korea.
However, Ezviz cameras are available at retailers worldwide, including Amazon, Newegg, Apple Stores and many other stores. The sales history shows that Ezviz had started with 5,000 units sold, but Ezviz sold only 50,000 before being discontinued. Moreover, the company ceased releasing models after 2004 and is now making only 1,000 per year, which leads you to question: Will Ezviz stay relevant to younger consumers who prefer older models? After analyzing the historical data of Ezviz, it looks like the brand has already achieved significant success.
If Ezviz keeps growing, then they are going to stay in the top. That might indicate that the brand might not have much competition to catch up with Lorex. Both Lorex and Ezviz were established in China, so Lorex probably doesn’t need to focus on expanding internationally (the fact that Lorex has never sold a European country suggests so) but it would definitely be interesting for Lorex’s owners to build its overseas business. Lorex already has a huge global presence.
What Lorex should focus on doing is building a bigger international footprint with its Asian assets (and maybe with a few more European countries). Lorex claims that Lorex has made great progress, especially recently: Lorex saw a revenue increase of almost 30% between March and October this year.
So Lorex can grow its revenues again and hopefully, the company will have a strong financial position in terms of cash flow as well. Lorex also offers comprehensive security solutions. Lorex currently manufactures several security systems, but its overall production rate is quite low.
Therefore, Lorex should launch its next series of security systems to become the leader in the field. Lorex has a lot of opportunities to improve its core business: if Lorex wants to keep growing, it will probably want to expand into the U.S. too. Thus, Lorex would want to diversify its offerings beyond CCTV equipment.
