The new generation of RTX cards arrives october 12, but we already have information about GPUs with Ada Lovelace architecture. With a suggested price of $1599.00, it's worth checking out how the GeForce RTX 4090 compared to the RTX 3090 Ti, to see if the performance jump justifies the investment.
It is important to note that, so far, only a few internal tests have been presented during Jensen Huang's presentation on the 20th. Thus, the results, although impressive, do not necessarily reflect the actual conditions of use of the plates.

In addition, the frequencies of the new GPUs are also much higher than those of the enthusiastic board of the past generation. Even without official confirmation of the number of Tensor and RT cores, the GeForce RTX 4090 project is generally much more ambitious than the RTX 3090 Ti.
One point that is striking, however, is that despite the heavier specifications, both the thermal design (TDP) and the recommended power supply of the system are the same for both plates.

During one of the GTC conferences, Jensen Huang talked about how advances in Artificial Intelligence are crucial to improving graphics in games, and was even able to create hyper-realistic scenarios, even in older games.
In addition to the quality jump, according to the company's tests, the GeForce RTX 4090 is two to four times faster than the 3090 Ti. Of course, this result is due not only to technical specifications, but mainly because of new embedded technologies.

Improvements justify the high price?
In virtually all cases the answer is "depends". The first point is that the RTX 4090 is a board aimed at the enthusiastic market, and is far from the reality of the gamer public. Thinking specifically about this particular model, the card ends up being overkill for most systems, which will fatally present several bottlenecks to the new GPU.
However, thinking exclusively of the new architecture, the generational leap even of the input and intermediate models, planned only for 2023, is something to be aware of.
It is also worth remembering that the RTX 3090 Ti was launched with a suggested price of $2,000 and can currently be found for approximately $1,100 on official NVIDIA channels.
Thus, it is safe that not only the RTX 4090 can eventually undergo price cuts, but the cheaper plates of the generation have the potential to make obsolete virtually all previous generations.
