Graz University of Technology (GUT):
Graz University of Technology (GUT) is one of five universities in Austria that teach Grazology and Technology. It was founded by Archduke John in 1811 as one of Austria’s first technical colleges. It has a reputation for excellence and innovation, providing both public and private services to its students and their families as well as collaborating with industry to advance innovations in Europe.
The university offers a range of training programs as well as research opportunities, and it recently ranked at position 3 among all German universities on the European Times Higher Education Magazine 2018 World Universities Rankings. I’ve decided to discuss GU from the perspective of funding – how much money you should expect to receive over your lifetime in this case. As part of my job as an economist who specialises in social sciences, I decided to write about the topic of interest and came up with the question “Is Graz University of Technology good?”
Graz University of Technology is one of the largest universities in Austria, but it isn’t big enough to have a major campus. Instead, most of the facilities are housed in separate buildings, spread across Austria and Italy. There are also two campuses in Vienna and Salzburg. Graz has over 1,100 courses, which means that Graz is likely to offer you various options to choose from, depending on what field you want to study for. Graz’s main campus is in the south of central Austria and is known by its old name of ‘Materie Universitat Graz’. There is also another facility on the outskirts, called the Leibniz Institute, or LIG. On top of these two locations, there are a few smaller ones too.
For example, when you come to Geneva, they also have two campuses as well as different schools of thought. When people talk about Geneva’s Graz you can’t just generalise and say ‘they have many campuses, they have lots of professors, and they’re also famous for having excellent teachers’. That being said, the actual campus is quite small compared to other campuses in large European cities like Nice, which has around 300 students and is home to some universities such as Sorbonne, ETH Zurich, and others.
In terms of quality, Graz University of Technology stands out because, according to their website, “it is well recognized as one of the best centers and companies in Austria”. This could be due to the fact it’s near the city where all the student research facilities happen to be. Graz is not only important to scientific research, but also plays a huge role in science policy. Research here is done in collaboration with international partners and is usually funded by the federal government.
In addition to that, Graz is very helpful when it comes to securing jobs for local graduates. One of the most important things you should know about Graz is how long it will take you to complete your course, so you need to apply early so you don’t waste time. You get this information by reading the brochure given during registration, so you’ll find more information on the university’s site.
Some universities can be expensive, and obviously you want to look into them and see if Graz University of Technology would fit in. To give you an idea of how affordable some of them actually are, we can compare the average annual income to Graz University of Technology to the average salary, which is €70,000 ($92,000) per year. However, that doesn’t tell us everything about affordability because, like any good institute, they still have to cover administrative costs for all the staff. If you go there, you’re going to have a lot to do.
So, based on this article, let’s just say that Graz has pretty decent salaries. But even though it’s relatively cheap, they still have to cover the administrative costs. This means that they charge between 10% and 20%, depending on the area of work that fits in the criteria. Graz also has great perks like free housing, but that’s only if you live on campus. Fortunately, Graz has a nice pool of people to make sure they have enough vacancies to fill. The tuition fees for every single course is quite high, so they also run credit cards for those students at risk of defaulting. As for the job market, they don’t have much competition because, as mentioned earlier, they only have three campuses, the rest are quite far away.
But why should you even bother considering applying to Graz University of Technology now? Well, with several factors, including good pay, this is probably the place to go. First, they offer a fantastic variety. They offer over 50 different programmes, and if you want to get into something specific, then it just makes sense. Like some other institutes in the country that have bigger campuses, Graz has a large library with a wide selection. When researching topics, you can click through the topics, and the search results will show you the books, articles, and the videos related to what you’re looking for.
Also, aside from getting access to their library, there are several labs, laboratories, and departments within the institution that help you to gain experience or knowledge. Apart from the course itself, you can choose to either study engineering or science.
Both those fields have plenty to offer as well. Another reason to consider Graz University of Technology is this huge number of faculty members. The school offers 14 different postgraduate majors: 4 in Engineering, 9 in Applied Physics, 8 in Chemistry, and 7 in Science.
These include a large number of professors who have worked in Germany, USA, France, Switzerland, Russia, Japan, India, China, and other countries. With such a high level of expertise, there is always someone who can help you out, and Graz has quite an impressive selection of such individuals as Professors Jorg Schmitt, Urs Rieder, Wolfgang Woner, Dr Felix Knechtner, Andreas von Scheidtner, Paul Harken, Christiane Ehrlich, Michaela Mezzanotti, Uwe Gruehn, Anna Dierdner, Maria Fortunati, Sebastian Molli, Martin Scharf, Hans-Peter Mertenstandiger, Christoph Vahrenmoser, Daniel Staufen, Georg Schieleis, David Andernecht, and Stefan Fohrmann. All these are highly qualified scientists with a wealth of knowledge and experience and can help you achieve your goals.
Although most of Graz’s courses follow the traditional structure of the degree, there are at least five that really stand out, namely: Biomolecular Sciences & Drug Design; Physical Chemistry; Bioengineering; Civil and Environmental Engineering; Industrial Ecology; and Cybersecurity.
Each of these subjects is extremely interesting and useful, especially if you’re interested in biotechnology. Not only that, but they also provide you with a wider scope of experience than most curriculums. Overall, if you’re thinking about studying at Graz University of Technology, it might be a good idea to start looking around the lab sections and read up on the subject more before taking off.
